"History requires a skilled creative writer to bring it vividly to life." Lion Feuchtwanger, Das Haus der Desdemona.

The purpose of this portal is to introduce English-speaking researchers, journalists, students, and general readers to the life and work of Lion Feuchtwanger. Each entry contains information in English about a recent conference, book, article, or other item of interest, as well as links to further reading. There is particular emphasis on the novels which thematize antisemitism and the rise of Nazism, namely Jud Süss, Erfolg, and Die Geschwister Oppermann. The impact of Nazism on Lion Feuchtwanger and his immediate family in Germany is also emphasized. The site is thus a useful stepping stone for further inquiry. This site is maintained by Dr. Adrian Feuchtwanger (translator, International Feuchtwanger Society Executive Committee member, and a great-nephew of Lion Feuchtwanger; for full bio, see www.feuchtwanger.com). It is for non-profit educational purposes only.
